Colorful Dark Chocolate Bark

Due to exceptional procrastination, our team of siblings stumbled on the greatest homemade gift of all time.

The Loaded Chocolate Bar.

For countless Mothers Days, birthdays, baby showers… you name it and we are most likely frantically finding the perfect low-waste gift at the last minute. You can gift it and be someones new best friend, save it for a school treat for your kids, or treat yo’ self and eat the whole darn thing. Our bar’s ingredients are listed below, but feel free to mix up your own toppings to make yours truly unique!

dark chocolate

pumpkin seeds

puffed rice

dried cherries

cacao nibs

nasturtium (fresh picked from our garden)

  1. Chop your chocolate into pieces or use chocolate chips and place in a heat proof bowl.

  2. Bring a pot with 2 inches of water to a boil, and place the heat proof bowl with chocolate on the mouth of the pot. Adjust your dish sizes so the chocolate bowl isn’t touching the water.

  3. Keep the water boiling and stir the chocolate occasionally as the steam from the water below melts it in the bowl.

  4. Once chocolate is completely melted turn off the stove, and remove the bowl. Pour the chocolate in a glass container or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread so it sits evenly.

  5. Chop up your toppings and decorate the top of the melted chocolate to your heart’s content! We chose to add paprika to part of the bar for a spicy chocolate, added the puffed rice to part of it for a crunchy chocolate, and kept a plain section.

  6. The chocolate bark will need at least 4 hours to cool at room temperature. You can put it in the fridge to cool faster, just don’t be alarmed when the top slightly changes color from the marbling of the chocolate. Once the chocolate is hardened, break it up into whatever sized shapes you want. Enjoy!
